Installing VMware Tools on Ubuntu 9.04 the Easy Way

October 21, 2009

Here is a simple way to install VMware Tools on a Ubuntu 9.04 image. Execute this in a shell and always hit enter when asked questions to accept the default values.

wget http://chrysaor.info/scripts/ubuntu904vmtools.sh
sudo bash ./ubuntu904vmtools.sh

I had to run the configuration wizard twice to finally get everything working ok. This can be done by execution the following line.

sudo /usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl

The VMware Toolbox can be launched that way:

sudo /usr/bin/vmware-toolbox
